Hello,
Here is the cruel and unfortunate reality..it seems that in todays society, as long as a kid is not physically injured causing permanent damage, that DCF, the courts, society etc tends to think " ehhh the kid will be alright.. BULLCRAP. Emotional and verbal abuse is sometimes worse than physical abuse. Until the courts and the system seriously cracks down on abusers, as well as sex offenders, and dirtbags who prey on children, and makes the person really pay by longer prison terms, losing parental rights, etc. this will continue on.
Its a shame that there's this notion that if its a parent who abused the child that the parent is still the parent and should still have a say in the childs life. The damage the abuser has done will last this child a lifetime, the scars may never go away, yet child abusers are walking the streets hours after they are arrested sometimes..I know first hand from my line of work.
Jodi I am with you in this great cause/fight you are fighting. Whatever you need. IF MORE PEOPLE took a stand childrens lives would be spared and saved. Your ex husband should lose ALL RIGHTS to his children. he lost the right to be a parent when he did what he did. God bless~ Joann
