    Termination of Parental Rights

    Good Afternoon:

By the time the parental rights have been terminated, the damage has already been done.
One thing you may push is supervise visitations, States; such as, MA and CT have this in place.
I beleive that is something that should be enforced with a attorney for the child with psychological evaluations done and other testing that the attorney can request.
    This takes time and money.

    Hi Faithful,

You are right by the time the parental rights get taken away the damage has already been done!  A St. Lucie County Judge denied supervised visitation knowing all the details due to my X could not afford to pay for the supervised visitation.  Do you realize that supervised visitations cost more than my child support?  My child support was $20.00 a week.  At any rate, my X is in prison for chid abuse with parental rights to my children.  My family, and my son, continue with therapy.  Our therapy sessions started about six months prior to this other incedent.  I kept a nine year journal as well........just in case.....

    Re: Termination of Parental Rights

    Hello,

I want to answer an email that I received recently.  No my X did not loose his parental rights it does not matter if there was a criminal conviction.  Each state is different.  However, I reside in Florida and it does not work like that even if an individual was found guilty!  There are many states that do have strict laws regarding the termiantion of parental rights.  The National Clearinghouse on Child Abuse and Neglect Information has a great site to find out information about your particular state.  You may check out any or all states.  Thanks again, for your comments.......

Re: NEW INFO....FROM STATE OF FLORIDA

Thank you for the info....the appeal process is going to be quite interesting, however, the facts still remain the same regardless if Muano gets aquitted.  The tapes were proof of the brain washing, manipulation, and emotional abuse he caused.  Regardless, of how much money his parents want to spend on his defense/appeals the truth will always be there.  I am thankful for the support I have received from many people that I don't even know and from the national media, and international media.  Thank you for your words of encouragement Faithful!

I too live in Florida and am quite angry at how the state so call defends the children and what is in their best interest.  My sister has the same problem of defending her children from her ex and the father of the children.  They have abused these kids and he has 6 DCF reports on him and they do nothing.  The court says that what is best for the children is to have both parents in their life, but do not care, or seem to care, how the other parent could be ruining their lives.  I can understand how you feel.  I am sorry to hear you and your husband have to go through this and nothing can be done.

I will tell you what seems to be helping my sister's case.  First of all, do the children see the other parent?  Is that your son?  Can your son get the court to appoint a counselor for the kids?  I am sure the mother will fight it as my ex brother-in-law did, but the court finally ordered counseling and he has no say so now.  If your son can get a lawyer and tell him or her that his children are emotionally having trouble but that the mother doesn't want them to go to counseling, he or she makes a motion before a judge.  The judge will order counseling, if there was a divorce, or other circumstances in the best interest for the kids.  If this can be done, the kids will talk to the counselor and when the kids have talked enough of what is happening at mom's, you bring her to court again to stop visitation or change custody.  The court could even give custody to grandparents, if parents can't care for their kids.  I don't know the details, but this is what is finally working for my sister.  The children unfortunately have to support until this is done properly.  You say that the mother is a drug addict.  Did you report your findings to DCF?  They will show up unannounced and do get a urine test from the mother.  My brother in law on my husband's side had to do this to take his child away from his girlfriend.  He in turn handed his kid to my mother in law who now after caring for the child for 5 years, wanted to terminate his parental rights and adopt her.  She suceeded and has adopted her, but the dad gets once a month visitation at our house.  It has to be supervised.  He is an alcoholic, recovering one, also and has violence in the past.  That is how he lost his parental rights to her.

I could tell you more, but need more details if you don't mind.

NEW ZEALAND BANS CORPORAL PUNISHMENT BY PARENTS

A contoversial law effectively banning parents from smacking their children has been passed down in Parliament.  This legislation closes a legal loophole that allowed parernts to use "resonable force" to discipline their child.  This Bill allows the police to use their discretion if a parent should be prosecuted .  Some say this intrudes too far into family life.
